University of Memphis Research Council Holds Spring Meeting
The UMRC, responsible for research leadership and governance at the UofM, will hold its next spring meeting at the FedEx Institute of Technology on Thursday, April 3.
The University of Memphis Research Council (UMRC) will host its spring meeting on Thursday, April 3, at 2:30 p.m. in the Methodist Presentation Theatre (MPT 103) at the FedEx Institute of Technology. All are invited to attend and learn more about the ongoing efforts to support and advance the University's research environment.
Established by the Division of Research & Innovation, the UMRC plays a central role in fostering faculty leadership and oversight in research matters across campus. The council is composed of faculty representatives, associate deans for research or equivalent roles from each college and school, and staff from the Division. The 40-member council comprised of representatives from all colleges and schools across campus, as well as chairs, centers of excellence and faculty senate representatives convenes three times a year to discuss key research-related topics and promote a strong, collaborative research culture.
The UMRC acts as a vital bridge between faculty researchers and university leadership, advising on policies, compliance, and strategic priorities. Its work includes reviewing institutional policies, exploring research growth opportunities, and facilitating cross-disciplinary collaboration. By aligning local research efforts with the University’s mission, the council ensures that innovation and exploration remain core institutional values.
Beyond its formal responsibilities, UMRC members serve as local advocates for research within their units and help foster a culture of inquiry and innovation. The spring meeting will provide valuable updates, facilitate dialogue, and highlight the collaborative spirit that drives research excellence at the University of Memphis.
