UofM Featured in Atom Grants AI Research Case Study

New platform accelerates grant discovery and proposal activity across campus

In 2024, the University of Memphis became an institutional member of Atom Grants, an AI-powered grant discovery platform designed to revolutionize how researchers find funding opportunities. Since adopting the platform, the University has seen measurable success in streamlining the grant search process for faculty, research development professionals, and administrators alike.

Atom Grants recently released a case study titled “How Memphis Set Records for Grant Submissions,” highlighting UofM as a national example of how cutting-edge tools can accelerate research productivity. The case study features Dr. Brian Evans, assistant director of Strategic Research Initiatives, and Dr. Erin Nelson, associate professor of Public and Nonprofit Administration and associate director of the Institute for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership.

Smarter Search, Greater Impact

Traditional grant search platforms often overwhelm users with thousands of untargeted results based on basic keyword searches. In contrast, Atom’s AI-powered system understands the full scope of a researcher’s work, enabling it to deliver highly relevant and tailored funding opportunities. This precision has helped UofM users save time, reduce frustration, and increase the number of competitive proposals submitted.

Unlike static platforms, Atom is designed to evolve with its users. It actively incorporates user feedback, rapidly implements platform improvements, and ensures that its tools remain aligned with the fast-changing research landscape.
