As we begin a new academic year, we face a renewed effort to contain the COVID-19 pandemic. The School of Public Health continues to play a critical role in COVID outreach and research at the University, local, and national levels in areas related to antibody testing, mask compliance, community engagement, healthcare utilization, mental health, substance abuse, and environmental impact.
Our students remain our top priority, and we are thrilled that admissions to our School have increased 29% over last year. We are committed to preparing the next generation of public health professionals who will effectively address disease outbreaks and other challenges of our time, to promote health equity through the lens of inclusivity, thoughtful deliberation, and respectful discourse.
Thank you for choosing the University of Memphis to pursue this noble profession. Please continue to model and support evidence-based practices to protect yourself and our community: be vaccinated, avoid large group gatherings, and mask up.
Together, we will emerge stronger and healthier!
