UCLA Professor Hopes to Build A Fit Nation Through “Instant Recess”

Celebrated author and UCLA professor Dr. Toni Yancey will deliver a lively, inspiring lecture on the state of American fitness during a visit to the University of Memphis on Wednesday, Dec. 8. She will discuss “Instant Recess: Building a Fit Nation 10 Minutes at a Time” at 1 p.m. in the University Center Bluff Room (Room 304).

The presentation is free and open to the public. A reception will follow the talk.

Yancey is a professor in the UCLA Department of Health Services and co-director of the UCLA Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Equity in the UCLA School of Public Health. She works to motivate Americans – persistently sedentary and plagued by obesity – into action to improve their fitness.

Her talk is presented by the Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion (CHERP) at the U of M’s School of Public Health.

Parking is available in the Zach Curlin garage adjacent to the University Center.
