Graduate Certificate in Population Health

The Graduate Certificate in Population Health offers focused academic training for public health practitioners and other healthcare leaders who are interested in improving health outcomes in the community. The certificate can be completed in two semesters (either online or in-class). Once completed, students are eligible to take the Certified in Public Health (CPH) exam. Credit earned for the courses may be applied to an MPH degree.*

Certificate Curriculum & Requirements

  • Students enrolled in the certificate program must complete a total of 15 credit hours. This includes:
    • PUBH 7150 Biostatistical Methods
    • PUBH 7170 Epidemiology in Public Health
    • HADM 7105 Health Policy and the Organization of Health Services
    • PUBH 7120 Environmental Health
    • PUBH 7160 Social and Behavioral Science Principles

  • Graduate students must maintain a 3.0 GPA ("B"). Grades of "D" and "F" will not apply toward any graduate degree, but will be computed in the GPA. No more than 7 hours of "C-", "C," or "C+" will be applied towards meeting degree requirements.
  • All requirements for the certificate must be completed in 8 calendar years.

*Following completion of the certificate, transfer to the MPH program is not guaranteed. The student must demonstrate the ability to perform graduate level work, apply, and be accepted into the MPH program.
