The University of Memphis continues their 2017-2018 season with The Wild Party, book, lyrics, and music by Grammy and Tony nominated composer Andrew Lippa. Performances run February 15-17 and 22-24, Thursday to Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
Decadence and excess are the life of the party in this jazzy, 1920's musical juggernaut. Based on Joseph Moncure March's 1928 narrative poem of the same name, this darkly brilliant show features one of the most exciting, pulse-racing scores ever written. It's the party to end all parties with a slew of colorful guests living on the edge in prohibition-era Manhattan. A hardboiled Jazz Age tragedy full of love, jealousy and violence.

The scene shop has been hard at work creating a beautiful a two-story revolving set designed by Brian Ruggaber. Costume Designer Heather Michelle Oles drew inspiration from period designers Paul Poiret and Erté to create a unique 1920s style that blends glitz and glamour with the hard cut reality of the time.

The Wild Party is directed by third-year MFA candidate, Mark Schnitzler with musical direction by Jacob Allen, and choreography by Jill Guyon-Nee. This dynamic cast is led by senior Jacob Clanton in the role of Burrs, junior Kennedy Staiger in the role of Queenie, junior Amy Friedlander in the role of Kate, and senior Christian Boyd in the role of Mr. Black.
