Faculty Professional Development and Training

The final part of the 3Ds is delivery.  The delivery of the course encompasses how you and your students interact. We work with faculty to increase student engagement through various tools within Canvas. We encourage faculty to offer a variety of activities and assessments and use great instructional design strategies.

UM3D offers professional development events to support faculty in their pursuit of creating engaging, effective instructional materials:

Winter Summit

In our Winter Summits,  faculty across the University of Memphis virtually demonstrated innovative programs, courses, and projects that target instructional approaches in hybrid and online learning environments. Come see what your peers are up to and learn how to turn your great ideas into great instruction.

Summer Institute

Our most recent Summer Institute, led by University Libraries’ UM3D team of instructional designers and technology trainers, was a three-day event comprised of both in person and remote informative sessions focused on understanding how key pedagogical principles, Canvas technology tools, and available resources impact course design, development, and delivery. You can see the recordings on our YouTube channel.

Coffee with an Instructional Designer

UM3D’s Coffee with an Instructional Designer series offers ~5 min of instruction and ~10 min of discussion focused on the design, development, and delivery of your online courses. Recordings are available of past coffee talks.

The Ignite series focuses on current trends and proven techniques to inspire your course development. Presentations are offered in multiple modalities, dates and times to encourage broad participation. You’ll leave with new ideas and fresh perspectives. See our recordings of past Ignites.
