What is Skype for Business?
Skype for Business is a user-friendly messaging app that allows you to IM (instant message) your co-workers, Faculty, and Students. Microsoft Skype for Business Basic gives you instant messaging, audio and video conferencing, and online meetings. Users also get availability (presence) information, voice over IP (VoIP), file transfers, and sharing capabilities all from one easy-to-use program.
The Skype for Business service is subject to the Acceptable Use of Information Technology Resources policy. This is the same with various other technology resources available at the University of Memphis. (See the link to the policy)
Why Skype for Business?
Skype for Business is part of the UofM enterprise software. You can connect with co-workers or students here at the University. Start conversations with IM, voice, or video calls. See when your contacts are available online, in a meeting, or presenting. Present your screen during meetings or give control to others.
How Do I Get Skype for Business?
If you are running the latest version of Microsoft Office, then you already have Skype
for Business installed. Click the Getting started with Skype for Business link below
for information on how to use it.
If Skype for Business is not already installed on your computer, click here to submit a support request to your LSP and request to have Skype for Business installed.
Will there be Training?
Yes, a brief overview on how to login, navigate, and use Skype for Business will be given upon installation. If further instruction is needed please contact your LSP and place a service request.
