The Feature CD Review is from master keyboardist, composer, arranger, and conductor Alan Broadbent. The disk is titled New York Notes.
It is a concept CD of sorts. Alan Broadbent wanted to record music in the manner of a club recording atmosphere.
If you have enjoyed a good jazz piano trio at a laid back jazz club, you will appreciate the relaxed and impromptu mood of this CD. It was recorded in Alan's home studio with two of his best friends, and band members, Harvis S. on bass, and Billy Mintz on drums.
This group recorded without headphones to distract from the musicians hearing each other, and no pressure from being in a studio. This is in essence a jam session with classic be-bop musicians, mixing in a few ballads the same as on a gig.
We picked this one for the feature because it is simply beautiful in every element. We hope you agree.
