Purpose
Collection Management orders and receives all library material other than items designated
government publications. The department also screens, evaluates, and processes all
non-periodical material donated to all departments of the University Libraries, except
Special Collections and the branch libraries.
Collection Development is the process whereby decisions are made concerning selection
and evaluation of materials in collections of the University of Memphis Libraries.
The UML Collection Development program encompasses library resources in all available
formats. The process is carried out through the cooperative efforts of two groups,
Library Liaisons and Departmental Representatives. more...

Library Liaison / Departmental Representatives
A library liaison works with a partner representing a department or program to help
ensure that materials and services provided by the library correspond with the research,
artistic expression, and interdisciplinary and engaged scholarship of that department
or program. All liaisons are not in Collection Management, but we help coordinate
their efforts in selecting materials.
