- Provides a comprehensive exposure to the fields of exercise science, sports medicine
and rehabilitation, health promotion, and wellness.
- Introduces students to the theoretical concepts and practical skills associated with
preventive health, physical fitness, exercise program design, and sports conditioning.
- Provides an overview of mechanical aspects of human movement as well as physiological
systems including anatomical, musculoskeletal, neural, cardiovascular, metabolic,
and respiratory; inclusive of both lecture and laboratory experiences.
- Includes a one semester (360 hour) internship (final semester of senior year), in
which students can select their area of focus in order to gain 'real world' work experience
in their chosen field. An option to complete the internship within one of the many
Human Performance Laboratories is available with permission/acceptance of the lab

- Students are prepared to sit for national certification examinations offered through
such professional organizations as the American College of Sports Medicine and the
National Strength and Conditioning Association.
- Graduating students are well-prepared to enter graduate school in the areas of allied
health (physical and occupational therapy), medicine, exercise science, health promotion,
and associated disciplines.
- Graduating students are prepared to enter the workforce as personal trainers, exercise
specialists, and other health and fitness professionals.
