Spring 2012 Green Internship Success Story
All of the Spring 2012 Green Interns had tremendously rewarding experiences, but one
intern, Holly Cosby, had an incredible outcome to her Green Internship!

“My Green Internship with International Paper provided me with the knowledge and skills
to successfully, drastically improve the sustainability efforts of their paper bag
plant in California, saving them over $12,000 annually. Through real-world experience,
I was able to apply knowledge gained from relevant coursework to contribute to the
company's commitment to sustainability. I am grateful for this experience provided
by the Green Internship Program and the University of Memphis, and I am excited and
eager to continue working for International Paper as 'Sustainability Coordinator'
in Oregon following Graduation in May.”

Holly with her supervisor, Ward Harker
Harker had some comments regarding Holly’s work ethic:
"The energy Holly brings in accomplishing the goals set before her by the bag group
have not only aided her, but energized others to do more. She has inspired others
to a new level of awareness and action by her dedication to the recycling and environmental
studies in general. She has taken the steps to bring the academic theory into the
reality of the practical. She has done this very well and has been a significant impact
in this organization's improvement of sustainability efforts."

Holly's remarks on the Green Internship Program
"This internship program has provided me with invaluable knowledge and experience
that I will be able to carry with me throughout my life and professional career [...]
My hope is that the Green Internship Program will be available to continue changing
and shaping the lives of future professionals."
