Welcome to the McWherter Library Learning Commons.  The main area of the Learning Commons is located just to the right of the library entrance; however, the Commons encompasses the entire building.  There are 46 terminals (6 with scanners) and 3 printers on the main floor, 10 terminals without printer on the second floor, 22 terminals with printer on the third floor, and 32 terminals with printer on the fourth floor.   The Learning Commons is a place where you can:

  • Receive excellent research assistance
  • Feel at home in a laptop-friendly, wireless computing environment or take advantage of our many computers
  • Have access to reference books, abstracts, and indexes
  • Search online journals and databases
  • Participate in training sessions that keep faculty and students current with software developments
  • Request technology assistance
  • Study in bright and friendly open spaces on upper floors
  • Reserve study rooms
  • Find flexible and comfortable spaces with furniture that invite group conversation
  • Be part of a green environment with lots of recycle features
  • Take advantage of state -of- the art microfilm scanners and printers
  • Enjoy Einstein Bros., offering hot and cold beverages as well as bagels, sandwiches, and pastries that can be eaten in the library

A helpful staff is available on the main floor at the Research and Information Services (RIS) desk during all library hours, and student staff members await you at the User Assistance stations on the upper floors.  We are here to help you in a collaborative, comfortable, and safe environment and look forward to working with you on your next assignment.
