Trey Martindale
Trey Martindale is an Associate Professor in the Instructional Design and Technology
program in the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences at the University of
Memphis. Dr. Martindale holds graduate degrees from Texas A&M University (1992) and
Texas Tech University (1998). At previous university posts he helped design and develop
some of the first completely online graduate degree programs in the United States.
His research interests include the affordances and constraints of technological tools
for instruction. This includes how learners and instructors attempt to use learning
management systems, open resources, and personal learning environments. His recent
research topics include student satisfaction in online learning, and the efficacy
of instructional strategies when implemented online.
Dr. Martindale is also Director of the Instructional Design and Technology Studio.
The Studio is a research and development center for the design of learning environments,
