The Student Success Programs (SSP) at the University of Memphis provides assistance
to students who are first-generation and/or low-income and/or have a disability to
successfully obtain their bachelor’s degree. Services are designed to promote retention,
persistence, loan debt minimization and timely graduation of participants.

a baccalaureate degree.
TRIO STEM - This federally-funded program provides the same support as the TRIO Classic program
for eligible* students majoring in programs related to science, technology, engineering
or mathematics (STEM).
First Scholars® – funded by a grant from the Suder Foundation, this 4-year program provides support
to eligible, entering first-time, full-time freshmen who commit to living on campus
and fully participating in the program. First Scholars® receive a $5,000 scholarship,
renewable for up to three years.
