Emergency Mental Health Services

The University Counseling Center offers free counseling if you are experiencing any kind of emotional, psychological, or interpersonal problems. There is a counselor available to talk with you 24 hours a day and 7 days a week at 901.678.4357 (HELP). Alternatively, you can contact the National Crisis Center 24-Hour Hotline: 1.800.273.TALK.   • Stress Busters
    • 6-week series for students to learn to manage stress and increase calmness, concentration, and productivity.

    • Stressbuster groups meet Tuesday (9am), Thursday (11am), or Friday (3pm).
  • Purposeful Mindfulness
    • The practice of cultivating awareness of one’s thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations in the present moment. People who are mindful experience a greater sense of happiness, self-esteem, empathy, and acceptance.

  • Department of Psychology
    • At the Psychological Services Center, general outpatient psychotherapeutic and psychological assessment services are provided to the individuals and families of the greater Memphis metropolitan area for a sliding scale fee.

  • Family Safety Center
    • The Family Safety Center is one location that effectively combines civil, criminal, health and social services for victims of family violence.

  • Rape Crisis Center
    • Provides free and confidential, comprehensive forensic nursing, advocacy and counseling services regardless of whether or not the victim is reporting to law enforcement.
