The Graduate Certificate in Applied Artificial Intelligence (AI) focuses on the practical application of AI to solve real-world business problems. The program consists of four graduate-level courses and is designed for professionals seeking applied AI skills across industries.

It can be completed post-bachelor’s degree, post-master’s degree or embedded within a master’s program. Students can earn the certificate in as little as one academic year, making it a fast, career-focused pathway into applied AI.

The Graduate Certificate requires the completion of the following 12 credit hours:

  • MIS 7622 – Advanced AI Prompt Engineering (3)
  • MIS 7623 – AI-Assisted Application Development (3)
  • MIS 7624 – AI-Assisted Analytics (3)
  • MIS 7625 – AI-Assisted Database Management (3)

  • Undergraduate bachelor's degree and official transcript.
  • Completed application through the Tiger Tracks Portal.
  • GRE/GMAT scores are not required unless you are applying for degree-seeking status to earn a master’s degree.

    • Courses are offered in both traditional classroom and fully online formats, with sections available in summer, fall and spring. Many students complete the certificate in as little as one calendar year.

The Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS) with a concentration in Applied Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a graduate level degree that prepares students for high-demand, technology-focused roles that require both business acumen and AI-enabled technical skills.

Designed for early to mid-career professionals, the program supports both full-time and part-time study and aligns with employer needs for professionals who can apply AI tools rather than build algorithms from scratch.

The Master of Science in Information Systems with an Applied AI concentration requires the completion of the following 33 credit hours:

  1. Core Courses - 18 hrs. (6 courses)
    • MIS 7650 - Information Systems in the Global Enterprise (3)
    • MIS 7700 - Fundamentals of Data Analytics (3)
    • MIS 7605 - Business Database Systems (3)
    • MIS 7610 - Systems Analysis and Design (3)
    • MIS 6720 - Business Machine Learning I (3)
    • MIS 7640 - Information Systems Management and Planning (3)
  2. Applied AI Concentration - 15 hrs. (5 courses)
    • MIS 7455 - Cyber Ethics in IT (3)
    • MIS 7622 - Advanced AI Prompt Engineering (3)
    • MIS 7623 - AI-Assisted Application Development (3)
    • MIS 7624 - AI-Assisted Analytics (3)
    • MIS 7625 - AI-Assisted Database Management (3)

  • U.S. bachelor’s degree or its equivalent, awarded by an accredited college or university.
    • The MSIS program will consider three-year degrees from accredited institutions.
  • 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • GRE/GMAT Scoring Guidelines:
    • GRE: 300 or better overall score
    • GMAT traditional: 450 or better overall score
    • GMAT new/Focus: 455 or better overall score
  • English Proficiency when applicable

GRE/GMAT scores are waived for:

  • Students with a bachelor’s degree and a 3.25 GPA or better.
  • Students with a post graduate degree in which they received a GPA of 3.0 or better.
  • Students who have completed a graduate certificate in MIS with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
  • Students who have a proven working career in the IT field of 5 or more years and a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA of 2.75.
