SHRM Student Chapter
UofM Student Membership
The local UofM Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) student chapter is free to join and open to all majors at the University of Memphis. Students interested in a career in Human Resources are encouraged to visit our chapter meetings or events to learn more and get involved.
National SHRM Membership
The fee for a National SHRM membership is $75, where students receive the following benefits:
- Digital HR Magazine subscription (student members do not receive the printed magazine with their membership)
- Access to SHRM Online (all resources except access to the Knowledge Center)
- Discounted rate for two years of professional membership upon graduation
- Discounted rate to attend all SHRM Conferences
- Eligibility to apply for SHRM Foundation scholarships
- Discounts at online SHRM Store

We kicked off the spring semester by welcoming new and returning members, sharing upcoming opportunities, and building connections to start the year strong.





February 2025
An evening of networking and career conversations! Students connected with many HR professionals in the Memphis area to gain insights and build professional relationships.





March 2025
Students participated in a hands-on session to learn about negotiating job offers, benefits, and workplace conflict – led by two experienced HR professionals and facilitated by Student Chapter Adviser Dr. Kathy Tuberville.










April 2025
Members toured two renowned organizations headquartered in Memphis, First Horizon Bank and FedEx Logistics to see HR in action. From talent acquisition to employee engagement, students got a behind-the-scenes look at real-world operations.
