Professional Overview

Dr. Power serves as a Clinical Associate Professor in the Loewenberg College of Nursing. She currently teaches Pediatric nursing didactic, pediatric clinical and simulation and is a member of the Simulation Planning Team. She has experience teaching Complex Health Alterations II (Critical Care) clinicals, Heath Assessment Lab, Foundational Nursing Skills Lab, Advanced Adult Health clinical, Adult Health clinical and Adult Health Simulation. Dr. Power also serves as a faculty advisor for the Loewenberg College of Nursing Student Nurses Association and is a member of the National Student Nurses Association as faculty.

Dr. Power has been a clinical nurse for 37 years in Memphis. She obtained her RN Diploma in Professional Nursing from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in 1985, her RN to BSN from The University of Memphis in 2008 as well as her MSN in Nursing Education with an emphasis in critical care nursing from The University of Memphis in 2011. Most recently she completed a DNP in Executive Leadership from Union University in Jackson, TN. With an emphasis in Health Care Policy Advocacy.

She is a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) and is also certified in Pediatric Nursing (CPN) and Pediatric Critical Care Nursing (CCRN). Dr. Power received the Daisy Faculty Award from the University of Memphis Loewenberg College of Nursing in 2021 and from Baptist College of Health Sciences in 2013. As a DNP graduate student, Dr. Power was awarded the Academic Excellence Award. During Celebrate Nursing 2010, she was identified as one of the Top 100 nurses in Shelby And Fayette Counties.

Dr. Power is a member of the Association of Critical Care Nurses where she is an active volunteer for the national organization and the President of the Greater Memphis Area Chapter. She holds a lifetime membership in the Emergency Nurses Association. She is a member of the American Nurses Association, National League for Nurses, Tennessee Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau Beta-Theta Chapter Honor Society for Nursing, Society of Pediatric Nurses, the International Nursing Association of Clinical and Simulation Learning and the National Student Nurses Association.
