Operation ACE: A New Chapter for Fall 2025 at LCON

The Loewenberg College of Nursing is excited to welcome both new and returning students to the Fall 2025 semester! Whether you are beginning your nursing journey or continuing your studies at the Memphis campus, Lambuth campus, or online, we are thrilled to have you with us as part of the UofM nursing community.

Dr. Brad Harrell, Acting Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Assistant Dean for Community Partnerships and Practice, shares that this academic year’s focus in Academic Affairs is “Operation ACE.” ACE stands for Aligning, Creating, and Excelling—a framework designed to guide program improvements and student success.

  • Aligning our programs with national best practices and standards

  • Creating learning opportunities that prepare students for future nursing roles

  • Excelling in efforts to support academic achievement and student success

As part of this initiative, students may notice some changes in their learning experiences.

Undergraduate students will see greater integration of ATI learning activities and assessments throughout the curriculum. ATI assessments will now count as exam grades in some courses (as part of the 75% rule). Faculty will review these updates in each course syllabus and during class meetings. These changes are designed to strengthen progression through the BSN program and improve success rates on the NCLEX exam. Graduate programs are continuing to expand and evolve. LCON is in various phases of launching the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP and Psychiatric-Mental Health NP concentrations, while also seeing strong growth in the Family NP concentration and PhD program. The college remains focused on refining graduate offerings to meet the needs of working nurses and to prepare advanced nurse researchers, leaders, teachers, and clinicians to serve the region and beyond.

Dr. Harrell emphasizes that no matter the program or concentration, students are at the center of every effort. “Our teams are here to support you in any way,” he says. “Our primary focus is to ensure each of you achieves success in your academic journey and realizes your dream of becoming the nurse you aspire to be. We are so proud to partner with you on your journey.”

The Loewenberg College of Nursing looks forward to a successful Fall 2025 semester filled with growth, achievement, and continued excellence. Onward and upward!
