Posted on 2018-08-10

Steve Ash (PhD 2017, MS 2012) cowrote a recent Amazon Alexa blog post about the work he's doing as a senior machine learning engineer in the Amazon Web Services AI organization.

The post, titled "Automatic Transliteration Can Help Alexa Find Data Across Language Barriers," describes a machine learning system that was developed to automatically convert a name from one language script to another.  The work will be presented in a paper at the 27th International Conference on Computational Linguistics (COLING 2018) later this month.
