Registration Deadline – March 3, 2023
Thank you for your interest in the University of Memphis Language Fair. Below is information about how to register for this unique regional event. If you have participated in this event in the past, you will notice that there are new requirements for all in-person participants (including teachers). We have attempted to streamline this process as much as possible while adhering to the UofM policy on Participation of Minors in On-Campus Programs. Please note:
- Only teachers or administrators may complete online registration forms.
- Students and parents may not complete online registration forms.
- Only students who are earning high school credit for a world language may participate in this event.
How do I register my students for Pre-Fair Events?

Pre-Fair Event Registration Due Date: March 3, 2023
- All registration for pre-fair events is completed online via the Pre-Fair Event Registration Form.
- Each individual teacher may submit their students’ entries or one representative from each language may submit all students’ entries for that language.
- A separate Pre-Fair Event Registration Form must be used for each language.

Event Registration Fee
An $8 flat fee is required for each student participating in the UofM Language Fair events, no matter how many events
and regardless of whether the event is online or in person. You can pay via credit
card or check by completing the payment form here.
How do I register my students for In-Person Event Participation?
(Costumes, Crafts, Culture Bowl, Greek and Roman History and Mythology Quiz,
Greeting Cards, Dance, Music – Group, Music – Solo, Poetry Recitation, Research Project
and Vocabulary Quizzes)
In-Person Event Participation Due Date: March 3, 2023
- In-Person Event Registration Form: Due March 3, 2023
Only one (1) designee from each school should submit the In-Person Event Participation Form. In order to submit this form, the designee from your school will need:
- Supervisor of Minors Required Documentation
- A completed Supervisor of Minors Required Documentation Form for each teacher, administrator, staff member or designated chaperone attending the
UofM Language Fair in an official capacity. Required documentation includes:
- Basic information be used to check the National Sex Offender Registry and the Abuse Registry for the State of Tennessee.
- Proof or official verification of a background check completed within the past four years. If you are an MSCS school, please contact Roxanna McCommon at hajjafarr@scsk12.org.
- Statement of Acknowledgement of the UofM Minors on Campus Guidelines.
- Acknowledgement of the following two UofM policies:
- A completed Supervisor of Minors Required Documentation Form for each teacher, administrator, staff member or designated chaperone attending the
UofM Language Fair in an official capacity. Required documentation includes:

- In-Person Student Participant Headcount by Event
The number of students participating in the following events in-person on the day of the Language Fair:-
- Costumes (all languages combined)
- Crafts (divided by language)
- Culture Bowl (all languages combined)
- Greek and Roman History and Mythology Quiz (all languages combined)
- Dance – World (all languages combined, excluding Spanish)
- Dance – Hispanic (only participants from Spanish classes)
- Music – Group (divided by language)
- Music – Solo (divided by language)
- Poetry Recitation (divided by language and level)
- Research Project (divided by language)
- Vocabulary Quizzes (divided by language and level)

- A List of Students Attending in Person
A list of students attending the Language Fair in person must also be provided via email to flfair@memphis.edu by no later than Friday, March 24, 2023. Each student on the list must have a completed Student Program Participation Packet. Click here to access a template for this list.
- Student Program Participation Packets
- Each student participating in person on the day of the Language Fair must have a complete Student Program Participation Packet. These must be collected and delivered (physically at the Registration Table in the UC Atrium or via email to flfair@memphis.edu) by an official designee from your school to the UofM Language Fair staff on the day of the event, Saturday, March 25, 2023. No students may participate in in-person events without these forms completed and signed by a legal guardian.
