Prospective Parents 101: New Student Orientation

Brian Deal, Assistant Director, Undergraduate Admissions & Orientation, will talk with prospective parents about all things New Student Orientation (NSO), including the new 1-day format, registration instructions, and what to expect during NSO. By attending this session, prospective parents and their students will be well-prepared as the registration portal opens for summer 2023 NSO sessions on March 1.

Resources for Parents of First Generation College Students

Jaclyn Rodriguez, Director of First Generation Student Success and Nikaila Morrison, Program Manager of the First Scholars Program, will share insight into the challenges and opportunities for first generation students. They will also give parents of these students tips on how to best support their firstgen student.

Safety Resources for Students and Parents

The safety and wellbeing of the campus community is a top priority at the University of Memphis. Derek Myers, UofM Chief of Police, will talk to parents about UofM safety initiatives and resources and answer parent's questions about safety on campus.

Managing Stress During Final Exams

Final exams can be a stressful time for a lot of students. Staff from the Student Health Center and Counseling Center will share some thoughts and best practices that parents can use to support their student and help them to manage their time, study habits, anxiety and stress during finals.
