Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Instruction
The Department of Leadership offers this online, 18-credit hour (six classes) Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Instruction to individuals wishing to hone their college-level teaching abilities. This program is available to applicants who already possess a masters degree. Students who engage in this certificate work at or are planning to work at a variety of higher education institutions including, but not limited to, community colleges, private universities, public colleges and universities, non-profit higher education entities, etc. Students come from a variety of backgrounds. Some work as adjunct instructors, clinical faculty, full-time professors, faculty advisors, teaching coaches, faculty development administrators, etc. Certificate participants also range in area of curricular expertise such as English, Biology, Mathematics, Education, Psychology, Technical Training, Adult Basic Education, etc. This certificate is for anyone who wishes to sharpen their teaching and college-level classroom facilitation skills. All eighteen credit hours are transferable to the Doctorate of Education in Higher and Adult Education at the University of Memphis. Applicants should submit the following items to the University of Memphis graduate school for consideration: a statement of purpose, resume, three letters of recommendation, and transcripts from all institutions of higher education they have attended.
