Graduate Certificate School Library Information Specialist
Six SLIS content courses required for add-on SLIS endorsement or as part of initial teaching licensure; an advanced clinical practicum in a school library that may be done on the job if already licensed in another area; to complete the MS degree there are 3 additional courses; if a student is not certified as a teacher, an additional 2 courses in education are required, as well as other requirements of the Teacher Education Program (TEP); any undergraduate degree is acceptable for admission into the M.S. program, and any M.A. or M.S. degree is acceptable for admission into the Graduate Certificate program.
(Note: If a student already has a Master's degree and is a licensed teacher, only the 6 courses for SLIS endorsement are required.)
The program is designed for those people who seek to become school library information/media specialists. The program may or may not be acceptable for public or other library positions. Please contact us if you have any questions!
