Abrar Dirdasawi: A Calling Rooted in Service

Abrar-Dirdasawi

Abrar's journey at the Loewenberg College of Nursing has been shaped by purpose, faith, and an unwavering commitment to service. While she always knew she wanted a career in healthcare, it was during her final semester of high school that she discovered nursing was her true calling. For her, nursing is more than a profession—it is an extension of her faith and a meaningful way to serve others with compassion, patience, and generosity.

As a Muslim woman, she recognizes that her hijab is often the first thing patients notice when she enters the room. Rather than seeing this as a barrier, she views it as a responsibility and an opportunity—to lead through kindness, professionalism, and empathy. She strives to ensure that every patient feels seen, safe, and cared for, allowing her actions to reflect the values she holds close and the mercy and gentleness her faith teaches.

Her parents have been a constant source of strength throughout her academic journey. Their unconditional love and support carried her through the challenges of nursing school, and she credits them as instrumental in helping her reach this milestone.

Like many nursing students, her path was not without difficulty. The demands of coursework, clinicals, and exams were often overwhelming, but perseverance, discipline, and faith carried her forward. Each challenge strengthened her resilience and reinforced the importance of trusting the process.

Her final semester proved especially transformative. Balancing intensive clinical hours with mastering advanced skills required focus and determination. During this time, she was guided by her preceptor, Caroline Brown, whose patience and mentorship left a lasting impact. Through her guidance, she learned not only essential clinical skills, but also what it means to be a confident, compassionate nurse.

Being selected as the Convocation Ceremony Student Speaker is a tremendous honor. It represents the shared perseverance, growth, and achievements of her graduating class. As she prepares to graduate in Fall 2025, she reflects on her journey with deep gratitude—for the opportunities she has been given, the people who have supported her, and the nurse she is becoming.
