Fulbright Fellows at the University of Memphis

Six fellows bring global perspectives and expertise to enrich research, teaching, and cultural exchange across the university community

 

The University of Memphis is honored to have six outstanding Fulbright Fellows to campus this year, representing a diverse range of countries, disciplines, and academic interests. These scholars, supported by the prestigious Fulbright Program, bring global perspectives and expertise to enrich research, teaching, and cultural exchange across the university community. 

Among the current fellows is Frans Samosir from Universitas Prima Indonesia, pursuing a PhD in Public Health and Social/Behavioral Sciences through the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program. Also from Indonesia, Heri Yusup of the Islamic University of 45 is conducting PhD research in Applied Linguistics. Their work reflects a commitment to advancing global understanding in fields that address critical public and social issues.

Nicole Rodriguez Dias from the Dominican Republic is currently in her first year of the Master’s of Music program in flute performance at the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music. Studying at UofM through the Fulbright Foreign Student Program, Nicole was recently named a finalist in the School of Music Soloist Competition, showcasing her talent and dedication to musical excellence.

The cohort also includes Dr. Abtar Kaur, a Fulbright US-ASEAN Visiting Scholar from Malaysia’s Asia Pacific University, whose research focuses on AI integration in education. From the United Arab Emirates, Mouza Alnuaimi of Zayed University is pursuing a Master’s in Sociology, examining themes like social trust and cultural identity. 

These scholars enrich the academic and cultural fabric of the University of Memphis, reinforcing the institution's global outlook and commitment to excellence through international exchange. Together, these scholars contribute significantly to the global engagement mission of the university, fostering dialogue, discovery, and cross-cultural learning.
