The Alternative Break Experience

Spring Break Trip (March 3rd-March 8th, 2024)

What is the Alternative Break Experience?

The Alternative Break Experience is a 6-day, 5-night service immersion trip that will take place March 3rd - March 8th, 2024. This experience is designed to be a hands-on opportunity for students to learn more about themselves, others, and the world around them. This year, there will be five trips. Each trip will have a specific theme (Past years themes include LGBTQ+, Community Development, Food Insecurity, Environmental Sustainability, Education, Poverty, Homelessness, and International Disaster Relief).

Applicants are asked to rank their top choices by topic. The location of each trip will be revealed three weeks before the trip itself (in mid February). The reason for leaving the location a mystery is so applicants are choosing based on the service experience and not the location. Students will also participate in nightly group discussion and reflection activities. *All trips are drug and alcohol free*

How will I know If I am accepted to participate in the Alternative Break Experience?

Applications for the 2024 Alternative Break Experience are currently open on Tiger Zone, and will close on September 29. Students will be selected for each trip based on application and interview process.
