The Alternative Break Experience

Spring Break Trip (March 5th-March 10th, 2023)

What is the Alternative Break Experience?

The Alternative Break Experience is a 6-day, 5-night service immersion trip that will take place March 5th - March 10, 2023. This experience is designed to be a hands-on opportunity for students to learn more about themselves, others, and the world around them. This year, there will be six trips, one of which is an international destination. Each trip will have a specific theme (Past years themes include LGBTQ+, Community Development, Food Insecurity, Environmental Sustainability, Education, Poverty, Homelessness, and International Disaster Relief).

Applicants are asked to rank their top choices by topic. The location of each trip will be revealed three weeks before the trip itself (in mid February). The reason for leaving the location a mystery is so applicants are choosing based on the service experience and not the location. Students will also participate in nightly group discussion and reflection activities. *All trips are drug and alcohol free*

How will I know If I am accepted to participate in the Alternative Break Experience?

Applications for the 2023 Alternative Break Experience are open now on Tiger Zone, and close on October 7 at midnight. When you submit your online application, please be sure to pick a group interview time on the last question. These group interviews will take place on October 12 and 13. Students will be selected for each trip based on application and interview process.
