CLEP (College Level Examination Program)
The College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP) offers you the opportunity to receive college credit while saving time and money. Depending on your University, examinees are able to earn qualifying scores on up to 33 introductory-level college subject examinations. CLEP exams are approximately 90 minute exams and cost $95 per exam; in addition, examinees will also be required to pay a $35 administration fee per exam as well as a $10 essay fee (after meeting qualifying computer-based score) for English and History course credit at the University of Memphis. The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) is a computerized exam that is offered by appointment only at both the University of Memphis Main Campus in Memphis TN as well as the University of Memphis Lambuth Campus that is located in Jackson TN.
**Please note: University of Memphis students who have previously taken the course for credit and received a grade of (A-F or Incomplete) may not take a CLEP exam for that specific course.**
CLEP Registration Procedures:

Create your personal account and pay the $95 exam fee through the CLEP My Account registration portal. The registration platform will allow you to register for a CLEP exam 24/7, manage your personal information any time prior to taking the exam, select your score recipient institution, and purchase study materials.

Select your exam date, time and submit the $35 + service fee testing center administration fee through our secure online payment link located below. (Please note that you must schedule your exam 48 hours prior to your requested test date and cancel or reschedule your exam 24 hours before your scheduled exam).

Prepare for exam (center recommendations): SpeedyPrep, Modern States (Free Prep Service), InstantCert and Research Education Association.

On exam day:

Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment time; arriving more than 15 minutes after your scheduled reporting time will forfeit your exam fee and you will be required to reschedule.

Have your PRINTED "CLEP Registration Ticket" (provided by College Board). Please note: failure to provide your printed CLEP registration ticket will result in you not being admitted into the exam and all applicable fees will be forfeited.
- One form of identification:
- Valid government-issued with name, photo and signature
- Home-schooled or under 21 with no valid government-issued ID, please provide College Board ID Form (found on CLEP website)

CLEP score reports will be available immediately following the exam (exception: Exams that include an essay portion)

Minimum Passing Score is 50 for most exams (check your Institution's requirements)

Retest Policy 90 days (University of Memphis - U.S. History I & II requires 1 year)
