The Coordinated Effort to Enhance Development is repeating the Fall 2021 series of discussions around the National Association for the Education of Young Children's new publication for leaders: From Survive to Thrive: A Director's Guide for Leading an Early Childhood Program. The Director’s Lunch n’ Learn Series, a 10-hour certificate series for early childhood leaders, aims to train childcare programs across Shelby County, TN to provide individualized guidance and direction to early childhood programs throughout their participation in the series. The CEED team will partner with program leaders to help them implement high-quality practices to make their program the best it can be for the staff, children, and families they serve. For experienced early childhood leaders interested in learning the skills to advance their career, deepen their understanding of high-quality early childhood education practices, develop a diverse skill set to excel further in your career, and position yourself for greater success. One year of experience in an early childhood leadership position is required.

Virtual five-week course offering an introduction to effective leadership skills in early care and learning environments that will enhance development in directors, caregivers, parents, and young children. We will discuss how the NAEYC Code of Ethics supports program quality. Applicants must be able to attend all sessions and complete the required reading and assignments (approx. 1 hour of prep work per session). Participants will receive the NAEYC book: From Survive to Thrive: A Director's Guide for Leading an Early Childhood Program book along with additional books that will be used for discussion in sessions. There is no cost to participate, upon completion, learn how you can turn your 10 training hours into Experimental Learning credits hours to be counted towards your degree at the University of Memphis.  The first programs to register will receive the book, All Are Welcome – by Alexandra Penfold, Suzanne Kaufman (Illustrator) while supplies last.
