Master of Arts in Teaching Secondary Education

The Department of Instruction and Curriculum Leadership (ICL) offers the Master of Arts in Teaching with a concentration in Secondary Education which leads to initial certification in Secondary Education, grades 7-12. This certification prepares students to educate adolescents in a group setting while including other areas of coursework including adolescent development, learning theory, social foundations of education and teaching methods. This program requires field hours and prepares students to meet the competencies for Tennessee licensure.
