Designed for students with a diversity of backgrounds and interests in religion and international studies, this University of Memphis degree concentration is a traditional liberal arts focus on world cultures in a non-theological orientation. Students will develop skills in critical thinking, the analysis of complex issues, and oral and written expression.

Online B.A. and M.A. program in History, courses taught by dedicated online instructors and tenure/tenure-track faculty, ranging from ancient to modern content, global in scope.

The Global Applied Linguistics Concentration provides students with the tools necessary
to investigate language. Students confront the questions, theories, and methods of
exploring language as a system. In addition to the theoretical nature of language
study, students explore the real-life implications of language for literature, English
as a Second Language (ESL), composition, language development, and the social dimensions
of language and linguistics.

Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)
The Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Non-Licensure concentration
allows students to focus beyond their core English literature, language, and writing
courses. Specialized study in TESOL methods and in language assessment provides students
with the basic skills needed to teach ESL in the US and abroad. (The TESOL Licensure
Track is not available as a Global program.)
