Apply for Federal Student Aid

003509 is the school code for the University of Memphis.

Do not wait to hear about your admissions status to file the FAFSA!  Early submission is important.

You will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) electronically if you provided an email address on your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). A paper SAR will be mailed to you in 2 weeks if no email was provided.

Be prepared to submit additional information if requested on your myMemphis account under the ACCOUNT$ tab.

Your Financial Aid information will be reviewed for a financial aid award or non-award decision upon receipt of ALL required documents and admission to the University.

If awarded, the aid information will be posted on the myMemphis portal.

NOTE: Separate financial aid awards are processed for Summer semester. If you will require aid for the Summer semester, complete a Summer Update Form located on the Financial Aid Forms page (available in early April each year).

NOTE: All correspondence regarding the status of your financial aid is e-mailed to your University of Memphis e-mail address (or, if not yet admitted, the e-mail address you provided on your FAFSA). The Financial Aid Office no longer mails out award notifications. If you have any questions regarding the status of your aid application, check myMemphis.

  • Required items or sections are left blank on the FAFSA.
  • Signature is missing on the FAFSA.
  • Students selected for 'verification' are required to submit a copy of their and/or their parent's tax return transcript to the Student Financial Aid Office. The 1040EZ, 1040A, or 1040 are no longer acceptable documents for the verification process.
  • Items, sections, or signatures are left blank on the verification or worksheet form.
