The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is the University of Memphis' largest college, serving as a hub for research and innovation. It includes 24 academic units, ROTC programs, and several research centers, including two Centers of Excellence. CAS shapes most of the university's undergraduate curriculum, offering over 250,000 credit hours annually and awarding nearly 1,100 bachelor's degrees.

CAS is committed to providing a strong general education across the humanities, social sciences, mathematics, and natural sciences, promoting the academic growth of its students.

The college is divided into fur main divisions: Humanities, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies, each offering a diverse range of programs. Natural Sciences encompass the study of the physical world around us. Students studying natural sciences can expect to develop skills critical to addressing complex scientific challenges and preparing for careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. 

Division of Natural Sciences

The Division of Social Sciences studies human communities, behavior and interactions. Students studying social sciences can expect to gain a deeper understanding of society -- including its challenges and potential for change and growth.

Division of Social Sciences

The Humanities Division includes programs that explore the history of human culture, thought, and expression. Students studying humanities have opportunities to understand themselves better, their society, and the world around them.

Interdisciplinary Studies offers opportunities to study and gain experience in some of today's most challenging and exciting fields: international studies, environmental studies, differing cultures, religious beliefs, emergency and disaster management, and gender and race.
