About Allen R. Woodall III
Allen R. Woodall III is an Assistant Professor of Teaching of Spanish and Hispanic Linguistics at The University of Memphis. Formerly, his work in Spanish Morphosyntax & Dialectology addressed temporal-aspectual systems of native and non-native Spanish varieties. He now specializes in Spanish Second Language Acquisition and curricular & instructional design at all levels, with a particular focus on ChatGPT & other AI tools in language instruction. His work also aims to outline the importance of equity, inclusion, & diversity in multimodal course delivery. In addition to instructing various levels in the Spanish Basic Language Program, he teaches upper-division Conversation, Composition, & Applied Linguistics courses for Spanish majors and minors. These courses provide students opportunities to apply theoretical concepts in Hispanic Linguistics to Language Teaching & Acquisition, Sociolinguistics, Political Science, and other areas related to their field(s) of study. This Outcome-Driven Model for Teaching & Learning encourages students to apply acquired skills & abilities to their own work throughout their language-learning journey.
