Author, Filmmaker, Professor, Rapper MK Asante Will Speak at UofM Sept. 28

September 9, 2015 - Writer, professor, filmmaker and rapper MK Asante will speak Monday, Sept. 28, at 7 p.m. in the Michael D. Rose Theatre on the University of Memphis campus. Admission is free.

In his talk, Asante will discuss the stories behind his bestselling memoir, Buck. Critically acclaimed, Buck is Asante's coming-of-age story about his rebellious journey through the wilds of contemporary urban America, and how he overcame the odds. Drawing on his own life and lyrics, Asante discusses the redemptive power of art and education and inspires audiences to tell their stories.
