Joan Blumenfeld Will Headline Eubanks Lecture Feb. 28

February 21, 2019 - The Department of Architecture will welcome Joan Blumenfeld as the speaker for its William R. Eubanks Distinguished Lecture Feb. 28 in the Fogelman Executive Conference Center atrium and room 123. A reception will begin at 6 p.m. followed by the program at 6:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Blumenfeld is a design principal and former global design director for interiors at Perkins+Will, a firm with offices in 27 locations. Her projects have been appeared in publication such as Interior Design (including several covers), Vanity Fair, the New York Times, Contract Magazine, Architectural Record and Metropolis. They have won more than 40 design awards in the past five years alone.

Because of her advocacy, mentorship and design achievements, Blumenfeld was Contract Magazine's Legend for 2018. As president of the AIA (American Institute of Architects) New York chapter, her theme for the year, "Architecture Inside/Out", resulted in a partnership with the City of New York in the first revamping of citywide workplace standards since 1971, and assisting in the development of a LEED innovation credit for Active Design for the U.S. Green Building Council. She also participated in the development of Fitwel, a health and wellness standard that is now being rolled out for general use.
