1999 and has since established a sustained record of excellence in research, teaching,
and institutional service. He founded and led a vibrant, multidisciplinary materials-science
program that bridges physics, engineering, and biomedical applications, fostering
collaborations across campus and with national laboratories. He is a recipient of
several research awards on campus, including the Eminent Faculty Award. Currently,
he is also serving as a director of the Institute of Nanomaterials Design and Innovation
at the University of Memphis, (INDIUM).
Dr. Mishra earned his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Missouri–Rolla and holds
advanced degrees from Pittsburg State University (MS), South Gujarat University (MSc),
and a Postgraduate Diploma in Space Sciences from Gujarat University, India. He completed
postdoctoral research at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory’s Advanced Light Source
(LBNL-ALS), where he gained extensive experience with synchrotron-based characterization
techniques.
Research
His research portfolio focuses on magnetic nanomaterials and nanocomposites, including
metallic and oxide magnets, magnetocaloric oxide materials, and oxides for supercapacitors
and photocatalysis. Dr. Mishra’s work integrates advanced synthesis, nanoscale characterization,
and application-driven design to address fundamental questions and real-world technological
challenges.
