Anticipating a fall 2026 launch date* the Polytechnic@UofM is working towards offering a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) designed to align more directly with workforce needs. If you're currently enrolled in a BPS program in Manufacturing Supervision, Information Technology, Construction Leadership, or Organizational Leadership, you may have the opportunity to transition into the BAS program.

About the BAS Program

The Bachelor of Applied Science is a 120-credit hour degree with concentrations in:

Our applied technology programs feature flexible delivery (online, hybrid, on-campus), faculty mentors, and a capstone or internship experience. When paired with opportunities to earn credit for certifications and real-world experience, these programs create a well-rounded educational path. Students will graduate with both a degree and a credential that employers value.

Why the BAS Might Be the Right Move for You

BPS Advantages:

Broader liberal studies foundation

Established pathways and advising

Familiar structure for current students

Thematic studies may appeal to interdisciplinary interests

BAS Advantages

More technical and industry-focused

Easier transfer from AAS and TCAT programs

Credit for prior learning and certifications

Reduced barriers to entry (e.g., math)

Choosing your path is an exciting step—and both options open doors. If you’re looking to sharpen your technical expertise and stand out in today’s industry-driven market, the BAS empowers you to go deeper and get hands-on. Prefer a broader liberal-arts experience that lets you explore big ideas and connect disciplines? The BPS offers a flexible, well-rounded foundation. Both degrees are powerful pathways—your choice simply depends on where you want your future to go.
