Vice President of Student Affairs Melinda Carlson

Melinda Carlson

Melinda Carlson began as Vice President of Student Affairs on Jan. 1, 2024.

With extensive experience in higher education, Carlson has served in various capacities at several universities for more than three decades, all focusing on the well-being of students on campus, and outside the classroom. Her most recent role was as assistant vice president of Auxiliary Services & Operations within the division of Business and Finance, a position she has held at the UofM for nearly two years.

After receiving both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Eastern Illinois University, Carlson worked across multiple areas of student affairs at several institutions, including the University of Missouri S&T, the University of Northern Colorado, Arkansas Tech University, the University of Mississippi, Saint Louis University and Southern Methodist University.

She has served on the governing council for Southeast Association of Housing Officers (SEAHO), on the planning team and faculty for Regional Entry Level Institute (RELI) within SEAHO, as National Housing Training Institute (NHTI) Faculty, Chair of the Association of College and University Housing Officers – International (ACUHO-I) Women in Housing Network, participated in the NASPA Institute for new AVPs and has served as an ex-officio member of the ACUHO-I Foundation Board.
