Dr. Elena Caballero is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Teaching at the University of Memphis. She specializes in contemporary Spanish literature, with a particular focus on poetic and musical intertextuality within the Hispanic tradition. Her doctoral research examined the influence of Federico García Lorca on the works of Leonard Cohen and Enrique Morente, exploring the transnational and interdisciplinary reach of Lorca’s legacy. More broadly, her work engages with modern and contemporary Spanish literary production and its connections to other artistic forms. Dr. Elena Caballero brings this research into the classroom by encouraging students to analyze literature within broader cultural and artistic contexts. Before joining the University of Memphis, she served as a predoctoral teaching and research fellow at the University of Cádiz (Spain) and worked as technical staff at the Instituto de Investigación en Estudios del Mundo Hispánico (In-EMHis).
