Biography

Dr. Allison Hickey is passionate about behavioral accounting research. She specializes in auditor judgment and decision-making. Her areas of focus include auditor learning and development, public accounting culture, and auditor-client interactions. She is especially passionate about understanding and improving accountants’ day-to-day work experiences.

Dr. Hickey graduated with her PhD in Business Administration (Accounting) from the University of Georgia. She also earned her Master in Taxation from American University and Bachelor of Science in Commerce from the University of Virginia.

Before transitioning to academics, Dr. Hickey worked for five years in public accounting at CohnReznick LLP and Deloitte & Touche in Virginia and Colorado. She advanced to tax manager and specialized in multistate taxation and partnership structures. When not working, she enjoys listening to history podcasts and singing.
