A Message from the Chair
Welcome to the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Memphis.

As Chair, I am proud to be part of a community that is passionate about using engineering to improve human health and quality of life. Biomedical engineering is not just a field of study—it is a field driven by curiosity, compassion, and the desire to make a meaningful difference for patients and their families.
During my years as a faculty member and researcher, I have had the privilege of working with outstanding students, colleagues, clinicians, and industry partners. One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is watching our students grow from talented learners into confident engineers, researchers, healthcare professionals, and innovators. Their creativity and dedication continually inspire me and reinforce the important work we do every day.
At Memphis, we believe that the best biomedical engineers are developed through a combination of rigorous academics, hands-on design experiences, and meaningful research opportunities.
