Lydia Fuson joined the Center for Athletic Academic Services (CAAS) staff at the University of Memphis, where she serves as the academic support lead for the Men’s Basketball and Women’s Golf programs. A Memphis native, Lydia brings a decade of local educational leadership, coaching experience, and personal athletic background to the Tiger family.

Prior to arriving at the University of Memphis, Lydia spent ten years teaching in Memphis high schools, where she also coached varsity women’s soccer and softball. Her commitment to the intersection of education and local athletics stems from an immersive background in the Memphis academic community. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 2016 from Christian Brothers University, where she also competed as a collegiate student-athlete on the soccer team. She earned a Master’s in Urban Education in 2017 through the Memphis Teacher Residency program.

Deeply passionate about the city of Memphis and its sports culture, Lydia is thrilled to serve her hometown and its student-athletes and help them navigate their academic and athletic journeys. Outside of the office, she enjoys showing people around Memphis, and spending time with her dog, Stella.
