When electrical generators feed power into the Smart Grid, it is essential that they
are coordinated extremely quickly and securely. Delays in coordinating the power input
or a cyberattack or failure of the communication with the control center could have
devastating effects on millions of people and businesses. With support from MLGW,
Dr, Mohd Hasan Ali of The Herff College of Engineering is heading up the electrical
engineering aspects of the project, and Dr. Dipankar Dasgupta of the FedEx Institute's
Center for Information Assurance is handling internet security research.
