The Polytechnic@UofM is changing organizational leadership education and it's no secret.

Dr. Alfred Hall, Director of the Polytechnic@UofM and Department of Applied Technology Chair, and Dr. Nate Phillips, associate professor of applied technology, attended the Assessment Institute at Indiana University Indianapolis between October 18 and 20.

There, in front of University of Memphis Provost David J. Russomanno, the two gave their presentation, "Bridging Theory and Industry: The Polytechnic Evolution of Organizational Leadership."

The presentation detailed the transformation of the University of Memphis Organizational Leadership program into an industry-aligned, Polytechnic degree completion pathway. Hall and Phillips integrated ten regional industry sectors and stackable micro-credentials and explained how the Polytechnic@UofM's program shifts the curriculum toward workforce competencies and strategic relevance. By embedding adult-centric strategies, professional portfolios, capstones and AI-integrated deliverables, the organizational leadership program at the University of Memphis bridges the gap between academic scholarship and regional workforce demands.

Dr. Hall said the goal is to align leadership education with economic needs to produce ethical, workforce-ready graduates.
