Herff students win contraption competition at FedEx and OBAP Fly-In and Skills Showcase

A group of students from the Herff College of Engineering not only won the contraption challenge in the Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals' (OBAP) inaugural Fly-In and Skills Showcase—they were the only team to build a functional contraption.
"It was a great way to get experience in a stressful environment and build teamwork skills," said Herff student Donovan Claggett.
Claggett joined Joshua Ortega, Kaia Williams, Anthony McGuire and Evan Cazalas at the showcase on Saturday, June 13, at the Luke Weathers Flight Academy. Along with the engineering contraption challenge, teams competed in the events' flight competition and maintenance competition. FedEx provided students with tours of the FedEx Experience Center prior to a dinner and awards ceremony to end the day.
The event celebrated OBAP's 50-year anniversary.
