Turner Construction donates $75K to University of Memphis Foundation

July 30, 2026
Turner Construction of the Mid-South donated $75,000 to the University of Memphis Foundation on Thursday, July 30.
Representatives from Turner presented the check to members of the Herff College of Engineering inside the Edwards Research and Innovation Center.
Blake Tyler, business manager at Turner Construction Company, said the donation is all about investing in the Memphis community.
"One of the biggest motivations for us is to make sure that, because Turner is a big company, we're investing in the communities that we live in. A lot of our staff went to the University of Memphis. So, it's important for us to find ways to give back," Tyler said.
That investment will help the Herff College of Engineering continue its educational programs, community events and aid students traveling to conferences across the country.
"This money will help out in quite a few ways," said Isiah Surbrook, assistant dean of engineering student services. "One is scholarships for students, which is always a huge field of financial need. The other part is the student services that this money will support, from student support programs like our redshirt program that helps incoming students improve their math skills, to events such as eDay. It'll also help some of our students get to competitions and national conferences."
