Friday, December 22 — The University of Memphis announced Tony Bourne as Vice President for Enrollment Management. Bourne, who most recently served as Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing at Heidelberg University in Ohio, will begin in his new position at the UofM on Jan. 16.

“It’s a privilege to be joining the University of Memphis at such a dynamic time in higher education,” said Bourne. “Now, more than ever, universities are asked to demonstrate value to students and the communities they serve. The UofM is uniquely positioned to accept these challenges institutions are facing. I look forward to working together with the entire campus community and shepherding new innovations that will support students and the University for the future.”

With a Ph.D. in Engineering – Cognitive Systems from Wright State University in Ohion, Bourne has focused his research on the development of success pathways from market to enrollment to graduation. He applied that research to his role at Heidelberg, achieving a 22% increase in enrollment for its Fall 2023 class.

Bourne comes to the University with two decades of experience in higher education. In addition to his role at Heidelberg, his positions have included Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs at Rhodes State College in Ohio and Director of Enrollment Management in the College of Engineering and Computer Science at Wright State University, where he developed an advising platform that increased the retention of underprepared students and put them on a path to graduation.

“The experience Tony brings to our University will be invaluable as we develop a robust community-driven enrollment strategy,” said UofM Provost David Russomanno. “His emphasis on the complete enrollment process, including market research, data modeling, student retention and outcomes, put the University in a strong position as we look to recruit future Tigers of all stripes.”
