UofM online programs No. 1 in Tennessee for 4th straight year by U.S. News & World Report

Jan. 24, 2023 — The University of Memphis is the highest-ranked institution in Tennessee for the fourth-straight year by U.S. News & World Report in its 2023 rankings of online programs. The UofM’s status began its incredible climb six years ago, culminating in the top spot four consecutive years.

The UofM is ranked in the top 110 in 10 categories nationally, including two in the top 20, seven in the top 40 and eight in the top 50.

Both Best Online Undergraduate Psychology and Criminal Justice are ranked No. 20 followed by Best Online Graduate Education for Veterans at No. 29, Best Online Undergraduate Programs for Veterans at No. 31, Best Online Undergraduate Business at No. 32, Best Online Graduate Nursing at No. 37, Best Online MBA for Veterans at No. 39, Best Online Bachelor’s Programs at No. 49, Best Online MBA Programs at No. 58 and Graduate Education at No. 109.

The 10 UofM Global programs that are ranked nationally and deemed U.S. News Best Online Programs include:

  • Undergraduate Psychology (No. 20) #1 in TN
  • Undergraduate Criminal Justice (No. 20) #1 in TN
  • Graduate Education for Veterans (No. 29) #1 in TN
  • Undergraduate Programs for Veterans (No. 31) #1 in TN
  • Undergraduate Business (No. 32) #1 in TN
  • Graduate Nursing (increased to No. 37 from No. 38 in 2022 and from No. 45 in 2021) #1 in TN
  • MBA Programs for Veterans (No. 39) #1 in TN
  • Bachelor’s Programs (No. 49) #1 in TN
  • MBA Programs (No. 58) #2 in TN
  • Graduate Education (No. 109) #1 in TN

“It is very exciting that the University of Memphis continues to be the No. 1 ranked online institution in the State of Tennessee for the fourth straight year according to U.S. News & World Report,” said UofM President Bill Hardgrave. “Our University continues to move forward as the calendar has turned to 2023, and it reflects directly on the hard work of our outstanding faculty and staff.”

The UofM is ranked No. 1 in the State of Tennessee in nine categories and No. 2 in the other.

The University of Memphis is an R1 institution by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, putting the UofM in the top tier of research universities nationally.

This milestone solidified the University as one of two flagship public institutions in Tennessee. Carnegie R1 status is a credit to the vision, work ethic and dedication of the faculty, staff and leadership at the UofM.
